With great weather, and more to come, our guests have been enjoying nets full of fish. The Walleye anglers have been bringing them in from just in front of the resort. Located on Pine Point of Leech Lake, you don’t have to burn a lot of fuel getting to the fishing hot spots. Other spots close by producing Walleye are the Grand Vu Flats, north and south of Goose Island and the west side of Trader’s Bay. Boats are mostly drifting in about 11 feet of water while angling with a jig and minnow. Fatheads have been working although we are now seeing more rainbows and red tails. Fish have been plentiful and about half of them in the slot limit, 18″ to 26″. A bag limit of four, one able to be over 26″.
Jumbo Perch have been 9″ to a couple of 13 inchers in our customer’s live wells. Mostly found in the Walker Narrows and Sucker Bay, fish for the Perch during the day and catch a couple of Walleye on the way home.
Don’t forget we are open year round with excellent ice fishing. Heated ice houses (non sleepers) are out in early January in the Grand Vu Flats close to Goose Island. Roads are plowed for easy access and we will even go out to the ice houses and warm them up and auger the holes for you each morning. Nothing better that having free fish cleaning in the winter.
